Is waxing your vehicle necessary? The answer is no.. But if you plan on keeping your car for a number of years, and keeping it in great looking condition, then i would say that waxing your car is most definitely necessary.

Vehicle’s come from the factory with layers of clear coat already applied to the paint but over time the clear coat will start to fade, become hazy and start to become beat up due to dirt, dust, bird droppings, bug guts and other road contaminants. Where waxing comes in handy is that it provides an extra layer of protection to your clear coat. When driving your vehicle after a complete wax job, any bug guts, dirt and other contaminants should just simply wash right off with very little scrubbing necessary.

Some other benefits of waxing your ride include keeping that new car shine, keeping that paint smooth to the touch, it helps fill in scratches and swirl marks from previous  bad washing techniques and it also will help prevent stone chips as well.

How often is waxing necessary? personally i think waxing your vehicle twice a year is optimal in the Canadian environment that we live in. I would suggest that you get your vehicle waxed in spring time once the snow has melted and once more before winter sets in. The wax will help keep road salt from embedding itself onto the paint and starting the process of rusting.

When waxing your vehicle please make sure that you have properly washed your vehicle, thoroughly dried off the paint from any excess water, apply a thin layer of wax to the entire vehicle, buff off the excess and repeat as necessary.
